Yeah,a friend set a password which they can't recall and they cant afford to lose the data in it.
It's a 8310  Series
I cant even access the menu items as it keeps on prompting for the unlock password.On trying to backup data from the phone
thru' the BlackBerry Desktop Manager,the password prompting continues when the phone is discovered through usb -
meaning I cant even backup as the backup tab is disabled.Any further ideas.

You can wipe the blackberry under Options -> Security Options -> General Settings

Then access full menu and choose wipe.

This will clear all data from your phone so its best you backup your contacts and messages first.

This is what will happen when you get to 10 tries and there is no other way to clear the password.
