Hello,

Definitely I wouldn't try Kanjo;)

I will be going to the see the OCS central police (Though ataniambia hana kalamu na rubber;))

Plus the CCN for my safety and that of my colleagues plus their gadgets.I think a letter with the list of the participants would suffice.

I will definitely post the results of my meeting with the two authorities here, It might be useful sometime in the future.

Stephen,

Why do you not want to pay a liscence??

Try Kanju uone...They will go with all your lovely Nikons never to be seen
again.

Secondly, with terrorism, get all the correct authorizations from CID and
Central Police or all of you will have  a swoop by the terrorism squad and
before you tell them of your nice Wiki-Whatever ideas, you will have a force
spokesman talking on TV of "Suspects"

Finally, in case you aren't allowed to photograph legally.......Nairobi has
also become another Newyork where you cannot enjoy the luxury of your
Camera, taking photos of bridges and buildings. Someone will argue that
Terrorist will go to the internet in your Wiki-Whatever and map attacks from
there.

Finally Some hope; go to KIC  Roof Top, pay 100 to go up and take all the
photos that you want with no one disturbing you

Don't dare go on the streets photographing without having to pay Kanju and
clear with the Authorities ( in writing). The damage can be massive

All the best in your noble Project

Thanks

Oscar

Hello,

We are a group of volunteers under the umbrella of Wikimedia
foundation which is non-profit. We will be having no tripods just
simple DSLRs like the Nikon D5000, smartphone cameras and so on.

Someone charging me for 4K+10K per street is totally insane. So to say.

If anything we will be doing a great task of putting Kenya's capital
on the web.

These images shall later be uploaded to WikiCommons under the CC
license which implies they are free for reuse either commercially or
freely.

Anyhu, I will make a point of going to Central police station because
of the current invasion by KDF into Somalia. Plus the CCN who am sure
will charge some amount.

Thank you for your feedback about this.

Regards,
Stephen.
