Ashok's suggestion works pretty well, done that before. For a linux based admin., DHCP server config is superb and eliminates any need 4 the router unless a Wi-Fi enabled laptop is to be used. You also have the option of using Squid if the admin machine has a wi-fi card. All the best. On 6/22/09, ashok+skunkworks@parliaments.info <ashok+skunkworks@parliaments.info> wrote:

if all you want is a simple / straightforward setup - i would remove the dlink router from the mix since the admin desktop can be setup to do routing.
activate dhcp on the admin box, setup ip-masquerading (which is basically NAT or Network Address Translation) and then your setup would look like :
Internet <--> USB Modem <--> Admin Desktop <--> Ethernet <--> D-Link Switch <--> LAN Machines _______________________________________________ Skunkworks mailing list Skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke http://lists.my.co.ke/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/skunkworks Other services @ http://my.co.ke Other lists ------------- Skunkworks announce: http://lists.my.co.ke/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/skunkworks-announce Science - http://lists.my.co.ke/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/science kazi - http://lists.my.co.ke/cgi-bin/mailman/admin/kazi/general
