I would do a membership survey to collect ideas on this idea. Mainly to establish how many are comfortable with formalizing skunkworks and what the role of the formal outfit would be. and most importantly governance structures and operations so that budgets, strategies etc can be done and there is a clear path forward for all to see.

Am i complicating stuff? from experience,people overlook the issues above until someone like queen bee donates a 2Milli cheque then all hell breaks loose coz everyone wants a piece of it and it wasnt designated for any specific plans.

Yeah, I agree. We need somebody to act as an administrator to co-ordinate events and reply to stuff. ie to act as a point of reference given that other volunteers can come and go. So we can have various voluntary temporary positions and a fixed one like suggested above
