Well, they are nice but i'd tell you to start playing with a couple of interesting languages. If i could time travel, I'd pick - C - You have to learn data structures and algorithms - (Pointers, linked lists, Binary trees, low level sockets etc) - Python - Nifty for quick programming. Interesting standard library - Erlang - Distributed programming? - Lisp/Scheme - Why not? I could write everything using () and planning to do mysql,java,ajax etc. Deeper MySQL knowledge would be gained by learning set theory, relational model, and why btrees are used for indices i.e. All this comes off the basic knowledge acquire from DS & algos. Java and AJAX would be left to you as an exercise by your lecturer I know im trying to do alot but im enjoying it. What would be your advice to
take in uni and advice to do now. Thanks.
I'd also start playing with flex, bison, minix/linux/bsd code. CS is nice, but start early, it pays to do
