@Daudi, I am surprised to hear you are having issues with your Online application at Standard Chartered. i have come to find them to be among the most reliable banks around so that comes as a surprise. Nevertheless, their online banking system is world class, if you manage to get it. Maybe you should try and visit the branch and just demand to speak to a manager.
With my account it is not just online banking but mobile banking as well. I tried a multitude of options. Inc registering by sms for mobile banking, speaking to telephone banking and, yes, finally going to the branch. When I went to the branch a very pleasant fellow called me the next day and stated that they would have send me forms to fill as they could not find any record of the application I did online. No forms ever came. In addition while at the branch I asked them to cancel the con that is e-statements (i remember because I had to write a letter as they would not accept instructions unless written) and go back to sending me paper statements. Up to today I still get e-statements. After all that, in my frustration, I wrote them an email in Jan this year to the email address they advertise all over their branches for concerns. No response to the email yet. So my experience with Standard Chartered may not be typical but it has been frustrating (and may make one heck of a blog post one day) in fact the only time I got people to jump is when I asked for contacts for their media team so I could get an official response to my grievances for publication. Having said all that I did apply for online banking again last week. maybe this time someone is listening? Its been more than the 2 days though. Perhaps another trip to my branch in town required.
