Depending on what exactly you'll be running I have found that a decent spec desktop (or entry level server) with a bunch of Raspberry Pi 2s as consoles does an adequate job in a learning environment. ‎Haven't tested the the more recent Raspberry Pi 3 Model B's yet. At 35$ a pop though, you could get one and try it out.
