This is Ok for users but what about developers? Which route would they "bank" on? Interesting read here: http://goo.gl/hEwAS Whiteafrican puts it plainly: *"While, as a developer, it’s a lot more sexy to work on the cutting edge operating systems like iOS and Android you’d be making a mistake to do that in Africa. Unless you’re developing apps that are global in scale or you’re doing client work, you should be focusing on Symbian (or Samsung’s Bada OS in some countries). It’s where the numbers are."* It would be intersting to get developers views on this... ./Bernard On Tue, Jan 4, 2011 at 3:00 PM, Okechukwu <okechukwu@gmail.com> wrote:
Honestly, I go for brands I trust, and Nokia is one of my most trusted, but with no Android, I went for my second most trusted, Samsung and if am to continue, then it will be Motorola - and HTC is way down the list - and this is my list, not anyone else's

I did buy an Android device - Samsung Galaxy 5 and personally, its disappointing as compared to my iPhone. My first rant was the lack of a virtual qwerty keyboard and the virtual keypad is a serious turnoff, and the OS isn't smooth like the iOS, so to the fans, I still think Android has a long way to usability - much like the Symbian and iOS

The other day I bought a relatively fairly priced Android Phone for my wife at 13,000 and after a few days of working with it, looks miles ahead of my Nokia Phone that cost me 50k.
It seems like all app developers are leaning towards Iphone or Android apps Nowadays. In my honest opinion Android is likely to be the mass market platform of the future and will considerably reduce the barrier for the masses to access high end smartphones at low prices.
The Graph below should be a scary trend for apple and RIM ( don't know about OVI at this point) Apple seems to be having a slow growth, RIM is declining while Android is growing like crazy.
If I were Nokia, I would definitely go the Android route.
