*My Point* If an employer (Not Government) is looking for a dev, the first focus is what has this Dev done that I can admire, what projects has he participated in whether in school or out of school. Your mastery is seen in your works. If in college or just cleared high school, what personal projects have you done or are doing. If currently you are doing 'Nothing' waiting for an opportunity, chances are you are not a developer - These guys have no life, since its mainly devoted to the code- :) By having personal projects that you are pushing while in waiting, shows that you believe in your stuff and an opportunity to be part of a team just enhances your capabilities.
*Profile* In your profile, throw in projects that you have done that relate to the 'opportunity'. It is beautiful for the employer (*to be*) to know that you traveled to Moscow and played some great Chess but just after you updated some log system on one of their Lunar Modules.
*You are good* The reason I write this is am certain there are great devs here who find it hard to put together a CV. This is why people here hire guys with such a cv as below because they get called for an interview and its here that they wow the bench;
