Maybe to make your life abit easier why not create a folder in home say &quot;webdoc&quot; then in /etc/apache2/sites-available edit default<br> 1. DocumentRoot to reflect the new folder<br> 2. &lt;Directory /home/foldername /&gt;<br>
 3. Leave everything else as is<br><br>NB:<br> 1. My assumption is the file apache is reading from [default] is in /etc/apache2/sites-available<br> 2. You are editing the aforementioned file un &quot;sudo&quot; mode, failure to which the file cannot be saved.<br>
