Simply the cloud is the hosting space out there in the cyberspace(internet) and gets anything rendered as a service. This can be anything hosted.Hardware as a serve, OS platform as a service, application as a service etc...the most important thing is "SERVICE" .Transparency to the users can be important but sometimes not that clear.A user can hire a physical server but not necessary get a dedicated computer, it might be a virtual comp..with required specs...RAM/Processor...etc.

Guys,

I think am getting confused by the cloud jargons. What exactly is the difference between private cloud and datacenter?

I am using the term data centre very loosely here to mean the corporate internal IT infrastructure

There is a lot of talk about setting up private clouds yet in my opinion this has been there for ages. Doesn't corporate file server, exchange server, etc constitute a private cloud?
