When I plug in a flash disk, it doesn't even see show like it sees it. The bash shell has connection to the Internet (probably via some bridging mode) although I can't see the virtual adapter listed with my network interfaces. Maybe a virtual switch? I can use the shell to run apt-get update (fails with a certificate error), ssh to a remote server...

Any word on how it works with hardware ? Eg. plugging in a usb flash disk, printer, phone etc and then looking at the output of lsusb . Is it as though you were running linux kernel on the machineor does it behave like a VM.
Samahani, I'm just curious, I wish I had a Windows 10 machine I wouldnt be asking all this :-)

I haven't personally used it, but it looks like you'll basically get
a
"mini" Ubuntu inside of Windows, including the ability to install Ubuntu packages using APT. Some stuff won't work, including GUI and low-level programs [1] [2].
It's made possible by the Windows Subsystem for Linux [3] compatibility layer.
