@David, excellent tip on the box. I checked , two things are now known. One : Output composite on scart while processor is ST200 series. Interestingly, the system seems an embedded device, and I think there is a dev on this platform. http://www.stlinux.com/drupal/taxonomy/term/32. C, C++, .linux people should check the link out. If anyone has access to the DTB suggested by David, pls provide boot time screen shots, firmware version or even better chipset set if you can open the box. If the box is based on the above chip and embedded based, whooaa.. Flagging the chips for certain functions, eg display stream data could be done from source. Oh dear...candy for the kids in us?!!! @Alex, great info in that links you provided. Just hope that someone from that committee would have been on this list. This list is being starved of all the IT initiatves out there. It would be much easier to thrash out the EPG and content generation data streams goals that they have planned as Im sure they are in the E-age. What I understand now is that the stations will want to be linked to Signet on fiber ( most likely ) . Which means they do not have to go digital but pool on a mux. Thats good, application layer does not need to know about physical layer. Makes its much easier for developers to not know about the encoders, decoders etc. General comment. We need to break that box, take reading off the processors, tuner. Now we are moving into more things, besides EPG : - Installers will not need a BERt meter to resolve any tech issues. We can take readings off the tuner, or stream stage and generate a signal strength and error rate check meter display into the stb. The installers can go to a set channel and it can display the quality stats. maybe the STB already has this built-in function. If yes, then is signet going to allocate a test channel that can inject a stream used for aligning or installations? Esshh, DTV project is starting to look like a domino effect. Everywhere along the chain, there is something to be done. Will Kenyan Developers finally wake up to the call? Will people be able to take this thing head and realize it's no magic? David, Alex why get our minds buzzing on a sunday, cpu ni overloaded after 16 hours days..... even machines need a re-boot/restart of services once in a while... :-)))) Chat as soon as possible..
