Am actually working on a solution (not really a solution but some leverage to deal with pirates) where a video is encoded with an invisible watermark which is unique for every copy made on DVD/CD. If any copy appears on the black market, the software can read the watermark and compare it with the database and know the distributor (who legally acquired it and decided to duplicate).
