Hi, Managed to get things working: i) For CPU fan: Installed the acpi daemon and lm_sensors packages - the fan now works as it should. ii) For Screen brightness: I found a manual hack to use on the command line: *sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=60* (where B = value of the brightness indicated as a number between [0-99] with 0 being the lowest and 99 being the highest value of brightness).
