I dont see how this is a payment system. . . .seems to me like a localised app store. . . . .my view is (Anyone can correct me if am wrong) wesley wants a system thats hosted by the providers portals such that anyone wanting to download gets it from the portal and the developer gets paid for the transaction right? this aint a payment system but a transaction platform. . . .and it seems its constricted to developers/content providers as opposed to intergrating M-pesa, zap and the likes to a unified scalable system that can be used with credit cards, bank atm cards and the like for the east african market. . . . . KDN MD had said they were working on something but I've not heard any more information about it.
I don't understand why big telcos are dragging their feet about this. They have nothing to lose and everything to gain

Hey
I have been thinking on this line too and i have afew comments on the same. 1. The application is not a competitor with the existing money transfer solutions but it can be a tool to enhance payments to the solution developers. My take, have an account with the telcos that clients can send the money to, then on receiving the money, the client recieves a key that they can use to download the application they have bought from the store.
2. On %s, Ovi takes 30% per download, apple store too(from what i gather here) so we cld just replicate the same solution here for the local market.
3. On restricting the app from being pirated, limit the type of downloading browser (This shldn't be anything hard for hardcore developers like we have on the list....)
4. Each key should only download one app.
5. The developer shld receive a log of all downloads to keep tabs with the income flow.
I think we will have created an opportunity for the store admins, have our returns assured and yes fueled innovation by rewarding the innovative minds.
My thoughts. Have an innovative day...
