I agree with this 100%.

So long as our local devs (including government and big corporations like Jubilee!!) here continue to develop apps with a naive approach towards security, its only a matter of time before this debilitating hack happens.

And if you think it wont affect you, think again. 

Once your "strong" password is stolen from the likes of NMG (for example), it shall be fed into one of those password cracking dictionaries, and if you have used it elsewhere, woe unto thee.

And yes, local "security researchers" might think twice testing any unsecured web app locally, an automated script running off a server in a country with no extradition treaty with USA or Kenya will not.
