My bill rose from 700 to 4,000.......My neighbours living in apartments have more appliances and are daily using an electric fryer and their bill is 3K.........KPLC said the power bills are to go up, when did they ever go down? I believe they are taking major advantage, how much didnt they get from their IPO that they cant offer good services. Its kinda like a case of one supermarket in the country offering only water. They know that there is no other option, so they do what they want. If it were up to me: - solar field - back up electric charged generators - fuel pump - bore hole Freedom from Kenyan utility companies On Thu, Mar 24, 2011 at 9:11 AM, Philip Musyoki <pmusyoki@gmail.com> wrote:
Well, I thin there is something happening at KPLC. When my bill double 2 months ago, I did not think much of it, I assumed I am just using more electricity despite the fact than I did not add any extra appliance. You know a month ago I even bought a couple of those light saving bulbs a replaced a couple of ordinary bulbs but that did not change anything. But from what I am seeing, I am not alone and with elections very near, I just tend to worry.
Blackout in Nairobi have become so common as to be a daily occurrence. I remember the good old days when KPLC management had been outsourced to the Canadian Utility firm (Manitoba Power or something) and I can swear I did not experience blackout then, and I am starting to long for those experts to just come back and sort the mess with the KPLC.
I am told we are not producing more power than demand, but things are simply getting worse. And I have no alternative vendor. Maybe the electricity sector should be liberalized the way of the telecoms sectors.
