I think Alex's was a rant.

I don't see anything wrong by someone saying that "if you prove you're worth, I'll give you a job". How that translates into 'taking advantage' beats me, although in Alex's view, it's more like "sugar-coating and it's wrong".

Well, I am sure most people would ignore that.
