@Collins incase you did not know, the reason that it got changed to chile-argentina was because of terror threats to competitors and spectators in some of the countries on the original North Africa route in Mauritania, Mali. In 2008, the event was completely cancelled. I think they made a good decision to retain the Dakar name, hopefully in a few years time they will return to the original route. :-)
