How are they going to measure radiation and enforce this if the proposals are passed? Geiger counter? Is Kenya Radiation Board now saying that most of these devices are not safe to handle? Liability of Radiation : Do devices cause medical problems or deaths through radiation and will paying the Board its fees help reduce this and how is it going to reduce it? Has KRB done research to convince kenyans that these devices pose a major health hazard and what solutions has it proposed to counter these problems? So if the proposals are passed, house to house search and payment? This will be interesting.... *You walk on the streets, chatting on the phone and someone shouts to you : Boss, wapi KRB license? ati hakuna...twende! It is an offense. ati nini, the phone is not yours? ..twende mara moja. The guy grabs your trouser as if the dark days are back. Sheria ni sheria, if you have any more questions plead with the judge! * ** *Prosecutor : this man is charged with an illegal handset that can affect thousands of lives in the republic! * *Judge : What! what is this lethal weapon?* ** *Prosecutor : Radiation! You cannot see it but its there. I cannot describe it myself but I remember my physics class about 30 years ago. Anyway, he is supposed to have a license to legally radiate and affect many people's health in the republic.* ** *Judge : What, LEGALLY RADIATE KENYANS?!!!! * *Judge : Mzee, I sympathise with you but the law says you must have a license for this. Pay a fine of Ksh 100,000/- or face jail of no longer than 6 months.* ** *You : I'm sorry I had no idea it was legal to radiate others. I promise to do my best and radiate my family, neighbors and everyone at the workplace....* ** *Case closed!* Me thots. :-)))))) On Mon, Mar 15, 2010 at 1:24 PM, Bernard Mwagiru <bmwagiru@gmail.com> wrote:

I quote " Under the proposed regulations, home and industrial microwave owners and mobile handsets owners will be required to pay Sh3,000 for every microwave or a GSM, CDMA or UTMs enabled mobile phone they own to the board".............
