So WD is still at the bottom eh?
Did anyone of you ever get a timely S.M.A.R.T warning before their WD quit?
I have an 500 GB WD external that makes an occasional *clank* but Gnome Disk Utility (Palimpsest) keeps giving it a clean bill of health

Seagate FreeAgent (portable) - 3years, several arguments with gravity
(gravity won everytime), not even the cable shows any signs of wearing
out.
Seagate GoFlex (desktop) - 2years, still hums beautifully
WD - none lasted 1 year
