@Andrew, is the bootloader still locked - I have the M3 which is surprisingly rooted out of the box, but haven't checked on bootloader status - The N3 is what I am sure was bootloader locked - meaning that only Tecno could flash a ROM on it , unless a signed ROM leaked.
