Equity bank now have agents all over who operate like Mpesa agents and have now sort of abandoned  the 
Mkesho initiative since the their agencies and Mpesa (Mkesho) are competing each other. So they are doing what
any other business would do kill whats not your own for your own to grow. This is a strategy they are using to 
divert their customers to eassy 247 and the technical hitch is just a red herring.

I last use eassy 247 months ago and it looked like a system that was based on 2 out of sync systems, MPESA and the Banks . I am still surprised that they are yet to sort that out. 

Maybe they should consult KPLC, looks like KPLC of late have synced their ERP with MPESA, you pay for the bill and results are instant and seem to come from a comp, not someone like before.
