Hi,
Just had to pour this:
Am getting disturbed every-time i see KFCB advert on TV. Not the advert itself but in the role they play and the message they want to pass to us;
I have read their mandate on the web and is not very definitive.
I may be a bit backward but am wondering;
- Who are they telling NOT to buy unclassified films off the street.
- What is a "film" in their definition.
- Is online movie/streaming/downloading for personal viewing a "Film" at home/cellphone etc
- Who classifies and what moral values they have. Have seen rated 16 that even u feel ashamed to watch with other people of my early 30's.
- How does this classification work exactly, do they view the "film" then rate?
- When you rate a "film" 18 and above and bring it after the 9oclock prime-time news on saturday/friday who should control - Parent or those we pay to safe-guard morals in the society?
- Why are they advising us as viewers, yet themselves can't regulate the media who influences a lot of people than dvd's on the street? I watched media degenerate into this for the last 10 years and i didn't speak.
- What of the evening explicit music shows - Does this fall under "film" - are they clasified.
- Are they mandated to control the online film/content/movies/streaming - if so, do they have the legal mandate or technical know-how in dealing with this?
- Finally - i no longer buy DVDs and many of us here do not, other that music (local). When that era is done what will they be regulating? - The future like one said here is streaming....etc. Will they be able to contols anything, anything i mean?
Am not trying to undermine it, just to understand.
If the KFCB role is only classification, who has the mandate to regulate content and not just classifications in Kenya?
