Well, the safe choice is just to do 4000 lumens if you can afford it.That's $1,200 and I have no idea if they're available in KenyaIf the choice though is between a cheap 4000 lumen projector and a quality 3000 one, I would choose the quality 3000 lumen one.

Thanks Adam. The room the projector will be placed has too much natural light coming in. Like I said, there is no way to do any dimming (government office, procurement issues et al). Maybe the lower lumens of 2000-3000 may be affected by this light??Thank you.Regards

It turns out that Epson has a whole page dedicated to the topic of brightness. They're saying that colors matter more than whites in terms of brightness - which I think is definitely true and I guess why I've always been able to tell higher quality projectors from lower quality ones.

I've had great experience with Viewsonic and Epson but since I have yet to see a Viewsonic device in Kenya, I would choose Epson. Bulbs do go out on these things. In my experience, a high quality projector (HDMI/DVI connector, good electronics, etc...) doesn't need as much brightness because the sharpness makes it easy to read without needing the brightness as much. I wonder if you could get away with 3,000 lumens from a high quality projector. Maybe a store with multiple epsons will let you evaluate 3 different models for a day in your conference room? Also, what's nice with epson is that it has instant off technology so it doesn't need a cool down period if the electricity goes off or somebody unplugs it. This really helps with longevity which is why I think Epson is the best brand for projectors.-Adam
