Hello Theus and welcome to the club. (I strongly believe the only way to appreciate linux is to wipe out everything else and go into it head first).
It does help to give a little more information when asking questions like these especially since usually problems are sometimes specific to certain conditions. so for instance:
-> which version of ubuntu
-> which laptop (im assuming) brand and make.
