I also had a similar issue: on a fresh Ubuntu "Lucid Lynx" installation, Zuku worked fine to the point of surprising me.
Then after a few days it just stopped.
I got it to work last week by -and I have no idea whether it is this that worked- deleting the connection profile that I had made (I mean that I had named my connection "zuku"). Upon deleting this, it just worked when I rebooted. I have no idea why.
PS I had also tried to mess about with the drivers.

I tested the machine on a different Zuku connection with a router and it worked fine, so hardware is working. A MacBook connected directly without router works, so internet connection is working.
Zuku customer care are not very helpful so far.
