Why scorn the noble venture. There are numerous benefits of Advanced Excel features especially when dealing with large amounts of data. Say when migrating systems, sorting, conversions, statistics,graphing etc. Have a look at all the ready-click functions in Excel and try see how long it will take you to do the same in your languages.

And btw, not everyone is a programmer!
