Engaging the cops in such matters sometimes seems useless. I had lost my laptop last year July and reported the matter to the cops. I was referred to some CID guys and to my surprise, the CID actually gets his phone, calls a number and tells the person on the other end, “Hiyo HP mmetoka kuchukua saa hii msipeleke mahali. Ni ya mkubwa.” To my amazement, I was called by some guy who told me we meet I get my laptop back since he had been given my number by the cops to make sure I get my laptop back. The consequence of not giving it back was going to be the “disappearance” of some of his crew members. I got mine back because I directly went to a senior officer, otherwise I don’t think I would have seen it again.
