@Nzomo. Quit bullying. We were once all N00Bs. I still am at Starcraft2. But that's not the point here. If you're not interested in answering. Don't post unnecessarily on-list. Thank you JDSKK'J. * W.* On Mon, Aug 8, 2011 at 8:28 PM, Timothy Mutugi <timothymutugi@gmail.com>wrote:

and while the noobness of mutagi is established...
... well, from experience, some APs like the Ubiquity nano/pico-stations are fully wireless-routers and access points in a single package.... while others are more distinct, like the linksys ones, where u have strict wireless-router models, and different AP (access-point) modles wireless routers (of the cheap linksys kind... at least the old ones i used) basically assembled a *basic* AP and a router. So you would use it to connect to you're ISP and at the same time create a simple wireless network from it... and that's it. If you have a second WRT54G (the model i used), you could not "WDS" the two APs ... wikipeidia "wireless distribution service". So creating a larger wireless network composed of two WRTs was quite tricky, especially if you're were gong to do it entirely using wireless (no wires or a wired-switch in-between.... just hooking them up via the airwaves. ) wireless APs are cooler is some ways coz of the many "transmission modes" they have. I have a cheap d-link AP that can "universally" boost any wireless network, or WDS with other APs (basically, WDS creates a mesh-network of APs, allowing you to deploy a single large and widespread wireless network. picture how GSM cell-towers work, and how u can move around in a car with ur call being passed from on tower to the next without a break in your call). It could even act as a sort of wireless card (you hook it up to ur PC, and use its admin-interface to connect to wireless network in the same manner you would with an onboard wireless card on that PC... something along those lines). i think it can also act as a bridge... i think, in which case, only other APs can connect to it (no PC clients)
.... but then, APs like the ubiquity-kind have a lot of the above in a single package. My pico can route, bridge, WDS, act as a normal access-point and....er... yeah, i think thats it. and it goes for 7-15k (trust me, the range is that wide for the same picostation-2-HP)
... so (to make some frenemies), dont mind the trolling mutugi. everyone starts out as a noob, even the trolls... only that, like primary school bullies, they just have some insecurities, and the troll lashing somehow helps them to manage it (... may be some still live with their mums, or were noobs themselves well into their 30s, or they never finsihed their undergrad, hehehehehe). don't mind them :-) there's a good samaritan for every blonde, noob post :-) i'm no samaritan btw... i'm quite the noob, wannabe-geek myself, but always willing to help out a fellow no0b when i can ;-)
