While I agree it IS business, why has it not been of any interest to Microsoft for all these many, many, many, many........... years past? I'm curious to know.

If there was a Linux version, I would probably buy it. There is quite a lot that is lacking in OpenOffice and LibreOffice.

Seriously though its all business. Remember Microsoft is not open-sourcing windows. It is just offering a Linux version. You will still have to buy it. That makes a lot of business sense, considering that there are many companies at the moment who run Linux/Open source instead of Windows as their choice of company OS.
