I guess "your friend" can actually afford to loose the data, if not the device. Only someone who can afford such luxuries can also afford to forget a password. Ask how many people have forgotten their ATM PINs, and they are few. 2009/7/13 Odhiambo ワシントン <odhiambo@gmail.com>

Yeah,a friend set a password which they can't recall and they cant afford to lose the data in it. It's a 8310 Series I cant even access the menu items as it keeps on prompting for the unlock password. On trying to backup data from the phone thru' the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, the password prompting continues when the phone is discovered through usb - meaning I cant even backup as the backup tab is disabled.Any further ideas.
Honestly speaking, how can someone 4get their password? If it's not password1 and not password2 and not password3, then it must be passwordN, but the number of attempts on the device is limited. I don't see how you will get around this issue, bar from talking to RIM to give you "engineer's" access to the phone, if something like that exists.
