CHEAP IS EXPENSIVE GUYS!
Am so experiencing this myself. I terminated my wireless to go for one of this so called overhead fibre solutions. The uptime has proved to be 31.05% per month. On calling the ISP, they claim eti mara fibre has been broken by KPLC contractors or some thieves have pulled off with a chunk of it. AM SO GOING BACK TO MY WIRELESS CONNECTION AS I WAIT FOR THE GUYS WITH THE UNDERGROUND STUFF TO SURFACE.
With the current economy, am not sure Kenya is ready for this yet, not unless they employ watchies per every few metres.
Do people use those? The 11KV transmission makes sense, these estate connections are a total NO NO for me, Wimax is 100% better unless I want some romantic Asian channels. On Wed, Jun 16, 2010 at 5:03 PM, Moses Ngatia <mosez.ngatia@gmail.com> wrote:
Braniac,
Am not talking about Nairobi Mombasa Backhaul. My concern is the last mile fibre on KPLC poles. The one you can pull effortlessly. Please pay a visit to Lavington and other many estates and you will get what I mean.

The ones that transmit 11KV...which is 11,000,000 volts.On Wed, Jun 16, 2010 at 4:53 PM, Moses Ngatia <mosez.ngatia@gmail.com> wrote:Skunks,
