A few things that came throughfrom the video, imho. Free Software Foundation is a social and ethics movement. Although he may not be the financial worth of the founders of MAC & Windows, he knew why he started out on the GNU project in the first place. If only he would now see the reality of what has happened to the original concept of freedoms he was working on, am certain that there would be a need for a review. His idea and vision was really great, create a social network of computer programmers who shared common goals. These goals meant that by empowering programmers with the open code would have resulted better choices for the world populations. The ethics and principles would drive the social network of coders who could make commerce through improving the code and eventually create complete systems. His system was defeated by the capitalistic practiises of code thieves globally. And this is why I believe we need to seperate the code community from the general members of the public who are non-progressive. When an IT administrator downloads a freebsd/linux free product on their networks to create gateways and firewalls, they are doing so in commercial environments for their own benefits and those corporations. Do they contribute anything towards the growth of the software? Never. The same goes for solution providers and developers who are pro-commercial because they too are non-progressive. These are basically filling a market demand for a product in the form of a solution, and do not contribute towards the growth of the software. We need to create a "coding for Kenya" social coders network who are intent on making a progressive and possibly a commerce sector that aims to reducing the costs of software ownerships to the Kenyan public though practises of mass volumes. Most of these coders will be languanges and frameworks, not platforms. Platforms are a bunch of non-progressive coders. Some thots for now. :-) -- **--If I ever wrote code on a system for the better of consumer freedoms or choice, I'd rather create the complete system with people who share the same views than give out a single line of code to code thieves who will use it to defeat the principles of freedom and choices---2011--Me--**
