Not entirely a wasted effort. Consider chatting in yahoo, msn, aol, gtalk from pidgin, you may want one application for all your chat requirements including fb, while also needing the option of not logging in to the fb website... for some reason. variety is always good.

When you login to FB via the browser, there is a chat plugin (Is it called so??) already. Now unless someone never wants to login to FB, I find this particular app a wasted effort. FB is about the web itself, while pidgin allows me to evade the requirement to enable "chat" via the web. So I can disable FB chat as well, to use this pidgin addon, right? Just tells you I am not such an FB fan:)
