Dear Washington,

On behalf of Orange allow me to apologise for the inconviniences you expereinced last evening.

We experienced an authentication failure at around 7.00 p.m. with one of our data servers that affected access to service to Orange 3G+ customers. Our technical teams were able to resolve the problem around 2.00 a.m. this morning.

Your comment on customer care is well appreciated. We are just completing a review of the shifts for our broadband customer care agents to increase the number of agents that will be available in the evenings to improve the turn around time on service.

Once again our sincere apologies for the service interruption experienced last evening.

regards,

Angela Ng'ang'a - Mumo

I tested early morning and it was back!

Customer Care lines (121) does work sometimes. I once found a very helpful
folk on that number. I think what happens with service providers is that
whenever they have a problem, they jam the CC lines. Happens with Access
Kenya all the time.

Hmm, this explains why I saw, in a certain country, newspapers being
distributed for free, and full of adverts. At first it was so hard to
understand why people were being "begged" to take newspapers.

Anyway, some guys can always pay, and then share the login credentials with
others. I suggest all those who have bought iPads to also go ahead and pay
up the subscriptions, then share the login details - which I want to believe
is not illegal. It's just "sharing":)

Okechukwu, the iPad costs like 100 K. the mass is not enough to warrant
Nation selling digital papers on them. I was looking at a mobile digital
edition where u pay for the content, not the mobile main site.

the issue with newspapers and magazines is Web 2.0. we are coming a at a
point where news will be crowd-sourced and marketers are turning to social
media for advertising and probably Lifestyle marketing (watch a movie called
"The Joneses" for a demonstration of how lifestyle marketing works. )

Isn't that the same price as a new set from multichoice?

Well, its a step in the right direction though i am sure there is something
to learn from the initiative despite the shortcomings.
