MArtin,

I installed and tried wicd. Did not work. And I am sitting right next to the AP :( .

Hi,

There have been some wifi issues with the newer Linux kernel (2.6.3*
range). I don't what is the issue exactly but when it occurred to me,
it was due to weak signal strengths from the hot-spots. I later
associated to a spot with stronger signals and it worked.

The other thing is that you can try installing wicd to manage all your
network interfaces. I think it does a fantastic job at that. Also you
can re-configure your networks afresh and use the dynamic host control
protocol (DHCP) instead of assigning static I.Ps to your box.

Hope that helps.

Martin.
