It seems as though it is easy to try to find faults and poke holes, but what tangible solutions have others on this list come up with? Not very encouraging, now is it?
I am neither complaining nor criticizing, I am just curious to understand how you plan to make this work, since if the model works it could be something useful for everyone. I have seen very many projects propelled by good intentions but didn't last more than a year or two because the funds ran out.
Would you refuse to own a car just because it has a risk of being stolen? This is also what insurance is for.
Unfortunately human nature is a bit selfish about ownership. If I paid for the car out of my pocket i have a greater interest in sustaining ownership by servicing the car, buying insurance etc. I dont know if all the communities these kiosks are meant for will feel like owners if things are handed to them, since as you say they dont understand what the internet is about.
