You "do not e-mail a host on the LAN",but rather e-mail a recipient address. I believe you've already created a few recipients (users) in it for the testing. Everyone involved in the test need to either add a second IMAP4/POP3 in their Outlook or whatever MuA they are using for the purposes of this test. Alternatively, they can access the MDaemon using the web interface - as long as you've not disabled the "Worldclient" (the webmail interface built into MDaemon). It's accessible via http://ip.addr.ess.of.mdaemon.pc:3000 If you look nicely at the MDaemon setup Window, you will see an option to log its events, and you can enable diagnostic or debug logging. You will see everything it does in the System or SMTP Screen (I don't recall which one at the moment). However, in your case, it's pretty easy: If you have done a test mail to an address within MDaemon and, say, it failed, then you should be able to get an NDR (Non Delivery Report) which I assume has/contains reasons why the e-mail failed. Hi skunks,
I have downloaded a 30 day trial for Mdaemon server before we role out the full edition.I am having problems installing it.When it asks for the domain name should it be the same as the corporate domain or can it be assigned a separate domain name since it will act as a stand alone server.Your advice will be greatly appreciated.
If you are just doing a test run, you can give it an arbitrary domain name. This is assuming that it is not supposed to send e-mails out of your test environment. However, if you are intent on a "real life" testing, where it's supposed to send e-mails outside, then you must give it a legit domain name. I thing that is what you call "corporate domain". What I haven't understood is your reference to "standalone server" - what does that mean to you in layman's language?
