Hi Skunks, Anyone who can assist? Regards ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Dr Paulos Nyirenda <paulos@sdnp.org.mw> Date: Tue, 15 Sep 2015 02:35:38 +0200 Subject: [afnog] DSTV HD Model 45 Decoder not displaying DMX text on what is playing To: afnog@afnog.org Can you help with this problem that I am facing on a DSTV HD decoder model 45 on the DSTV satellite network? Allow me to explain the issue. I was recently forced to buy an HD decoder Model 45 for my DSTV satellite TV subscription when my old DSD990 standard picture decoder packed up showing that it had been fried by an electrical power supply fault at my house. DSTV help desk in Blantyre Malawi indicated that they no longer were supplying standard TV picture decoders and offered HD Model 45 decoder as a replacement. I normally switch the decoder to music on the DMX audio channels especially when I am working late, like today, convincing myself that music only is less disturbing. I enjoy the large variety of music offered on DMX, it is a very good collection. In addition, being a music novice for some types of music, like classicals, moderns, jazz, instrumental etc, I used to enjoy reading and learning details on each piece playing which showed clearly on my old DSD990 standard decoder, with details like title, composer, artist, orchestra, etc. It is this detail or information on what is playing that has gone missing on the HD decoder model 45 and am finding this so very very frustrating that it drove me to consult the Multichoice and DSTV help desks on phone, face-to-face, e-mail, websites … you name it … and now this e-mail. They keep telling me that it is a configuration issue on my HD Model 45 decoder. But even the help desk in Blantyre, Malawi, the help desk on DSTV Africa, or any other DSTV help dest that I have written to, has not been able to show me how to configure the decoder so that I get the text display showing what is playing on the DMX channels. I am starting to feel cheated into upgrading into a system that works worse. In a place like mine where TV is still not as well developed as DSTV, I do not have many options, so I keep struggling. So, I would like to find out if anyone knows how to configure a DSTV Model 45 decoder so that it delivers text display on what music is playing on the DMX music channels. Has this been solved at your help desks? Bash me if you can, but I have a real network problem here that I need a solution to. I hope this fits under AFNOG.
