Regardless of all the above tips and suggested phone models, bottom line is that the feature is difficult to work with especially with the lack of intuitiveness. I have a common Nokia model; 2730 and I gave up trying to look up numbers form the SIM card to use with MPesa. Another half-baked 'first of its kind' innovation but at least they tried. I never keep any contacts on the SIM card so I always enter the numbers manually - holding two phones 2getha to ensure I don't make a mistake:-)

The phone manufacturers REFUSED to publish the API for accessing the phone addressbook, the same way Safaricom REFUSED to publish the API for M-Pesa, perhaps?? :)
