A direct disk copy (.iso) should keep the DVD contents intact (in its original format). For a filesystem, its largely dependent on what you want to use as your OS (win, nix, mac) as some OSes wont necessarily read some filesystems. So long as it is not FAT, you should be okay with any filesystem keeping in mind that the OS you're using can read/write to it. On Jan 25, 2010, at 1:19 PM, Odhiambo Washington wrote:
Hello skunkers,
I hope most of you are very avid movie/game fans so I may just get the right advise on what I am endeavoring to do.
Take the following situation:
1. You have 1000 or more movies on DVD 2. For safety (scratches, loss, etc) you decide to copy them to a drive large enough to hold them (Terrabytes)
A DVD will, in it's original media) give you so many options when you play it. You can choose scenes, etc.
Is there a way to achieve the same functionality suppose I transferred all my DVDs to a TB drive?
What file system would I use on the TB drive? Is there a restriction to the file system? Why does such restriction exist?
How (in what format) should I transfer the DVDs to the TB drive?
Is there a software (commercial or free, or even an appliance) that is suited for the above scenario?
