This might have been answered already. Why not use something like google groups? There are other lists like ke-internetusers, where do they host (Alex)?

If all the server is doing is maintaining this list then is it worth purchasing a server?


The original purpose of having a server was to have a place for anyone with interesting projects to host their projects - especially those that could not afford hosting.

It also hosted the wiki and blog.

The mailing list was only moved to the skunkworks server this year.

It also hosts the security mailing list and a couple of others.

@Wes, andika contribution yako... :-))))  It is now at 63,000/- Kshs!
I think Okech raised the important issue and the server dying out is a blessing in many ways. Central repo, file repo and mailing list.
 
In many ways, we now have the chance to resolve any issues about having the server local.
