I suspect your clients have been configured to use your server on your domain to download updates through Group Policy.
You can try and disable this and see if it sorts your problems>
On your Windows 2003 Server, go to Start > All Programs > Administrative Tools and click on Group Policy Management.
Scroll down the objects and you will see Group Policy Objects.Expand and right click on Group Domain Policy and select Edit. This opens the Group Domain Policy Editor.
Under 'Computer Configuration', go to Administrative Templates, expand it, go to Windows Components, expand it and click on Windows Update.
Now go to the Windows Update settings, and look at 'Specify intranet Microsoft update service location' and see if it is enabled. If it is, you can disable it. There are also other settings there which control how the update service works.
Also check under 'User Configuration' and check if the Update Service settings are set there.
if you do not have the Group Policy Management console, you can download it from the Microsoft download site.
