So, in Linux, a Server has a kernel different than a Desktop? All this time I've thought the kernel is the same across, but when you want to compile server apps, then you start pulling in some headers or .. yeah, whatever they call them. Sorry I am a bit ignorant on this
Not really Wash, you can use the same kernel, the notion of the difference is because as a practice it is recommended that servers use slightly older and stable kernels.
From my playing with Ubuntu, I've never quite made a distinction between a server and a Desktop is not for installing the "server services". Is it assumed that X always introduces vulnerabilities on a "Server"?
I also doubt whether this is true. -- ˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙ Regards, David Njuki @njukey [Google,Twitter,Yahoo]
