I think the French have spent so much time focusing on  GSM/Mobile lines(which Safcom ran away with ) and left out key areas that would have seen it compete effectively. For instance, fixed line and data.

Before Orange came, there were great product lines  at TKL Fixed Lines, Kenstream, Jambonet, Kensat,CDMA,even Data hosting. Long before other ISPs  started digging all over town, TKL had fiber in CBD and other rolls of cable  dumped on Ngong rd.  Orange simply got their priorities wrong IMHO.

This is a clear case of underestimating the Kenyan business operating environment. The real behind the scenes story is like a movie. But Im sure the government will not let them sink. You and me will bail them out, it happens everywhere in the globe

This company is suffering from internal sabotage and inefficiencies which are historical like that of KBC. It is only in Telekom / Orange where at this time and age you report an issue like one I had on ISDN failure and it takes more than a month to resolve. This is while very much aware that there are other providers in the market and that one can switch to another one in a twinkle of a second. By the time the service resumed I had already taken another provider.

Funny how things turn out! It's difficult to imagine Safaricom used to be a 'department' at Telkom and now the latter is not even the second but a distant third MNO in terms of subscribers and revenue! If a business venture does not make profits, the most reasonable thing to do is to end its operations and not to pour in more money hoping that the tides will turn!

Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us.There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.As we let our own light shine, we consciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
