This Peter guy is chinese coz he cant be Kenyan. He doesnt seem to understand the local economy and if he is an economist then i'd rather consult Dr. Moto moto kutoka Dar for advice. As for me I cant wait for number portability since Safcom suks. First of all you dont enjoy cheaper services if you load airtime via mpesa and they are having issues with data bundles of which they need 48hrs to resolve (so much for beating the research deadline). The only reason I have my saf line is coz of previous communication made using the line otherwise even mpesa cant force me to stay. If you go past Mwingi and head towards Garissa, you will find that there is no network.
If you go past Garissa, you will find no network, except for one lonely generator run BTS run by Zain on some NGO camp on the way to the border.
I even tried the emergency numbers (112?), and nothing.
Occasionally, you will find pockets of networks, but from both Zain and Safcom.

We made 10 cent per Safcom share over the last few years. That means, for every 10 shares, you make 1 bob. The government capped the Safcom share price in the initial weeks to prevent rise above Ksh. 6/-.
In short, the Government screwed us by inflating the Safcom shares by the billions; and they knew it (going by the action of share price regulation).
Who remembers when inflation really started ??? :-) ?? And not just ka-inflation, real inflation ??
When houses/property moved from 5m/300k to 19m/1.5m ?
I used to be able to do month shopping with 5k. Siki hizi, even 8k cant do half of that shopping.

I feel that the money excess of the liquidated assets and heavy borrowing during this period of "Safcom Shares" screwed us up; And that was when we really began spiraling towards the current inflation - because the whole economy felt that Kenyans had money.

I long for the day the Government will do the right thing in the interest of the masses, and not in the interest of ripping off from mwananchi; cause and effect ? - The masses suffer !
Even though someone is in a top government position (and is gonna make billions from a loophole they have seen), one has relatives/friends/family out there who are going to suffer from these actions - and one day, one may lose that tax fee position and join this very economy they screwed up - having left a 10 or 20 year legacy of bitter Kenyans struggling with inflation caused by 5 or 15 individuals who reaped where they should not have.
I just wish the Government would leave the inter-connection charges alone and look for other avenues to make money. Because this is the only thing we have now to make us communicate cheaply.
