
It all depends on what your company is involved in or does. A typical example. Banks in Kenya are supposed to keep records for 7 years. In this case the IT department will ensure that any set of records is available up to 7years back. So it is an extension of business requirements as dictated by legislative requirements. There are other IT and communication services which require you to get licenses as set by law. Again it depends on what you are engaged in. May be you need to be specific.
