Hey Mugo, Their is a difference between first and good marketing. Money transfer or Mobile wallets, ZAIN (celtel) was first to launching sokotele eons before Safaricom. But guys did not understand what it was for, recall most thought it was a competitor to safaricom's sambaza. Zain had to relaunch it resently so as to get some air play a.k.a ZAP. At this rate, don't you guys think that we should set up a frame work for inter-country and inter-operator money transfer. Although this will be met by stiff opposition form some (more established) operators, it will save many people the hussle of transferring money between networks.
If the operators are not ready for this, What about a central exchange which is able to channel mobile transfers of a certain trader in case the trader is not on the senders network.

Good luck to all, Safaricom is way ahead, that is why Zain is still struggling to get its money transfer service on foot, is it Zap or what is it even? Imagine I dont know...who does?????

While banks will not be obsolete per se seeing that they provide many more services apart from money tranfer, their money transfer servicies will face stiff competition with Mobile Phone Companies rolling out this services. Worse still with the advancements of these services to include other functionalities e.g payment for goods, services(KPLC has led the way). As soon as this becomes common-place then this Mobile Phone Companies will give the banks a run for their money. There is no guessing who will benefit the most from this, you and me My Thoughts...
